A modern funeral home

Lobby at Macon Memorial Park Funeral HomeThanks to a large fireplace in the lobby, as well as contemporary lighting and furnishings, Snow’s Funerals and Cremations At Macon Memorial Park is a warm, welcoming space. Renovated in 2017, the funeral home is 18,000 square feet, has a chapel and a number of rooms for arrangement, visitations and gatherings.

The 2 arrangement offices feature large televisions, comfortable executive-style chairs and conference tables. There are also private areas for discussing personal details.

The funeral home’s non-denominational chapel has seating for up to 220 guests. It’s a contemporary space with a raised platform at the front, stained-glass windows, new lighting, a musical keyboard, large monitors and modern audiovisual system with CD/DVD capabilities. If you would like us to, we can record a funeral service and deliver it to you on DVD.

Visitation spaces

Sitting area at Macon Memorial Park Funeral HomeThe funeral home has 4 visitation rooms: Cherry Blossom, Wesleyan, Ocmulgee and Mercer. With neutral colors and comfortable couches, these rooms are ideal for all sorts of gatherings, including small intimate services.

Cherry Blossom and Wesleyan are separated by a partition, as are Ocmulgee and Mercer. Depending on the ceremony, we can open the partitions to join the rooms and accommodate larger gatherings. Our visitation rooms are flexible spaces, and families often use them for gatherings after funeral services.

Cremation services

We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

  • a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
  • a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
  • a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:

  • Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
  • Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
  • Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

Personalized memorials

Our funeral directors and funeral home team work with you one on one to create a memorial service as unique as your loved one.

Over the years, we have created many touching tributes, including a funeral procession led by a John Deere tractor and trailer for a John Deere lover. We've also brought a race car on our front porch for an avid NASCAR fan. For services honoring fallen firefighters, we have arranged for the funeral processional to pass beneath extended fire truck ladders. From a horse-drawn carriage to a dove release, the personalization options are vast.

Additionally, our funeral home team includes bilingual team members and a certified funeral celebrant who specializes in creating a ceremony that uniquely expresses the personality, lifestyle and interests of your loved one. Our celebrant can conduct a ceremony on their own or in concert with traditional clergy. The choice is yours.

Notable cemetery memorials

Veterans section at Macon Memorial Park CemeteryMacon Memorial Park is home to 2 unique tributes: the POW/MIA memorial and Macon Volunteers memorial.

Korean War veteran and prisoner of war William Freeman donated the POW/MIA Memorial to the cemetery. Located in the center of the property, the 5-foot granite structure is engraved with a prayer written by a fellow POW.

The Macon Volunteers memorial honors past and present members of the Macon Volunteers, who have served with distinction since 1825. The Macon Volunteers were the 1st militia in Macon, Georgia, and 1 of the older units of the U.S. Army. Writer Sidney Lanier was 1 of the most notable members of the Macon Volunteers.

History

In 1936, E.B. Swallum assumed ownership of Macon Memorial Park, which was founded in 1934 by his business acquaintance. With the goal of creating a serene, park-like environment, E.B. owned and operated the cemetery until his death in March 1979.

The cemetery had various owners in the years after. Snow’s Funerals and Cremations At Macon Memorial Park was built on the cemetery grounds in 1998.

Today, Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Macon Memorial Park Cemetery are members of the Dignity Memorial® network, the largest provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers in North America. Over the years, the businesses have evolved to meet the growing needs of the Georgia community, but our commitment to compassionate care has never wavered.

Committed to community

At Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, we believe it’s our duty to give back to the community. For more than 20 years, we have participated in the Toys for Tots program, sponsored by the United States Marine Corps during the holidays.

Additionally, Macon Memorial Park Cemetery welcomes the public for services on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. For both of these events, we decorate the cemetery property with flags, host a Catholic mass and invite a high-ranking military official to speak.
